Design Events

The month of November is lined up with some amazing design events. The world will serve as the platform for a mixture of architects, designers, interior designers, artists, and many more organisations to exhibit their work. Consequently, we highlight the top exhibits and design weeks. This list includes the world’s most renowned and prominent Design festivals and weeks!

Date: 2nd to 20th November 2022

Kickstarting the Design Events is Australia, with its capital Canberra hosting the eighth edition of the Design Canberra Festival which is like a festival of all things design and has over 200 events for all design enthusiasts. With a plethora of new and renowned artists who are displaying their design aesthetics including art, architecture, jewelry, graphics, industrial design and photography. This time for a more global audience, this design festival has an Anytime Programme where participants can enjoy the events from the comfort of their homes. It also features many interviews, chat shows, walking tours and more.

Things to do while you are there

This vibrant city has lots to offer including the parliament building, heritage parks and exciting restaurants. If you are an art and history buff then don’t forget to visit The National Gallery of Australia, Australian War Memorial. For a fun day, you can check out the National Zoo and Aquarium and Questacon.

Date: 8th to 13th November 2022

One of the most prestigious design events in the world with Dubai emerging as the city of the future where new trends, ideas and innovations emerge was proud to unveil its eighth edition. This grand event, which is sponsored by the Dubai Design District, will also highlight the unique design subject of ‘Design with Impact’. Besides this, there will also be a trade fair called Downton Design where 200 international brands will exhibit their new designs. Also, you can gear up for numerous talks, explorations, workshops and more. 

Things to do while you are there

Dubai is the wonderland for the best innovation and has so many things to do for all age groups like Desert Safari, Water World Atlantis, Dubai Aquarium, Dubai Mall, JBR and of course the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa

Date: 10th to 14th November 2022

With its 11th edition, this five-day affair is a combination of both art and design which is exhibited by the most prominent galleries on the globe. Taking place in the prestigious Park Avenue Armory where artists will pay homage to three design groups named Vintage, Modern and Contemporary. Engaged in both fine and decorative art, the sole focus is to establish a unique collection which is motivated by the environment and not just mere art pieces. Salon is also known for showcasing internationally acclaimed work that is full of life and zeal making it a roaring success. 

Things to do while you are there

Visit the Statue of Liberty in the morning, spend a peaceful afternoon there, watch the sunset over the city from the Empire State Building, and spend the evening at Times Square. Additionally, you may go to Fifth Avenue, Broadway, the MET, and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Date: 23th to 27th November 2022

Having commenced in 2003, the Design Week celebrates its 20 successful years as a pioneer of innovation and design and this year its theme is ‘Mega Impact Design Trend 2023 and Beyond’ at Dongdaemun Design Plaza. Divided into four different categories including colour, lifestyle, technology and forecasting, it channels the impact of our surroundings and merges it into design trends. 500 brands from both Korea and abroad will demonstrate their products which are over 2,000. This festival’s main objective is to make Korea on the roadmap to global presence when it comes to design and innovation. 

Things to do while you are there

The land of K-Pop, K-Dramas and Shin Ramyun whose capital Seoul is a hustling bustling city that keeps on entertaining. Catering to many personalities, you can visit the Changdeokgung Palace, N Seoul Tower, Gwanghwamun Square and the National Museum Of Korea. Don’t forget to indulge in lip-smacking Korean food which is a medley of spicy and sweet.

Date: 30th November to 2nd December 2022

Taking a cue from the Covid 19 Pandemic and having a theme of ‘Together’, this festival is being hosted by one of the most vibrant cities, Lisbon for its 15th anniversary. Another central theme during this 3 days extravaganza is the climate crisis and its impact on design. With more than 2,000 architects attending this festival from across 65 countries, it is sure to make some noise. One of its noteworthy features is the award ceremony. The previous editions were held in Barcelona, Amsterdam, Berlin and Singapore. 

Things to do while you are there

This city has an old-world charm with trams, palaces and rivers. The beautiful Ajuda National Palace along with a day spent at the LX Factory which is a hub for restaurants and many such things is truly an experience. Extend your design tour by taking a peak at the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT). You can take a lazy stroll around this grand plaza called Praça do Comércio.

Date: 30th November to 4th December 2020

With the theme of ‘The Golden Age: Looking to the Future’, this year’s Design Miami will take place alongside Art Basel at the Miami Beach Convention Center, the show will be held on Convention Center Drive and 19th Street. It is specially curated by ace design curator Maria Cristina Didero. There are two features of this 5-day event which include the Gallery Exhibition where various brands will display their products. The other is the Curio Exhibition which will be a host to the segment of furniture, lighting, and art objects.

Things to do while you are there

Teemed with green palm trees and a clear blue sky, Miami is an altogether very different vibe. This beachside city has amazing beaches where you can do various sports activities. At night you can watch the city’s skyline while cruising along Biscayne Bay. A visit to Miami is incomplete without checking out Little Havana which is a Cuban paradise.
